The Business Centre Club, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under honorary patronage of the European Economic and Social Committee located in Brussels, launches non-commercial, nation-wide initiative in Poland - the European Medal. Its goal is to promote products and services offered by companies operating in Poland, stimulate the interest of Polish entrepreneurs in European standards and regulations applicable in the European Union. The Real hypermarket in Ursynow district of Warsaw was selected as the best hypermarket in 2010 in a competition organized by the magazine Wiadomości Handlowe. The competition's jury, including twenty-four experts on the retail sector acting under the chairmanship of Prof. Witold Orłowski, chose winners in eight categories. METRO GROUP won the "Laurels of Responsibility" award. The Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan (PKPP Lewiatan), the National Committee of the Solidarity trade unions (KZ NSZZ "Solidarność") together with Deloitte presented the award. They honoured the Metro Education programme as a role model element of a responsible CSR strategy. The award was presented in the framework of the project "Promotion of the Corporate Social Responsibility Standards at Enterprises in Poland". cbi:///cms/130054

MAKRO Cash & Carry was ranked among the Top 100 Most Customer Friendly Companies. The company took 1st place in the category of "self-service wholesalers and was awarded the "Quality Customer Service 2009" prize. The ranking was compiled on the basis of more than 200,000 opinions expressed by individual customers or other businesses. The European Medal project is organized by the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the Business Centre Club and the European Economic-and Social Committee. They distinguish goods and services with the quality not departing from the European level. The project is aimed at making public the examples of good quality and promoting the methods of achieving the quality.
