Europe's largest fresh fish distributor Metro Cash & Carry is breaking new ground in fish logistics: with an innovative Fish Logistics Centre located near Frankfurt airport, the company is bundling all processes in fish logistics. In addition to efficiency enhancements a special focus was placed on a sustainable conceptualisation of the new Fish Logistics Centre which has already been awarded the "German quality seal for sustainable building".

- Horst Norberg appointed new CEO of Media-Saturn Holding
- Dr. Rolf Hagemann to become Vice Chairman of the Management Board
- Management change effective 1 January 2011
- New structure of the Management Board to strengthen management of the brands Media Markt and Saturn
- Three new members appointed to the Management Board

In view of the strong expansion and international commitment with a focus on Eastern Europe and Asia, the shareholders of the Media-Saturn Group decided to significantly strengthen and restructure the company's Management Board operationally. Effective from January 1, 2011, Horst Norberg and Dr. Rolf Hagemann will jointly manage the European market leader in electrical goods retail: Horst Norberg as Chairman of the Management Board of Media-Saturn will focus on sales issues while Dr. Rolf Hagemann as Vice Chairman will continue to hold responsibility for finance. The contract of Roland Weise, CEO of Media-Saturn-Holding, will not be extended. Roland Weise will resign from office at the end of the year.

Saturn is known for offering its customers a wide selection of state-of-the-art technology on larger than average sales spaces. The company is now testing a new and completely different sales channel with its Saturn Xpress automated retail shops. As the name suggests, the automated stores offer a fast and easy way of shopping "in passing" or "in transit". Customers can find Saturn's first automated shops at Düsseldorf airport, where it has been in operation since Friday, 14 January 2011. It is planned that a total of 11 automated shops be installed at busy locations, such as airports, train stations and shopping centers, within the framework of the pilot project.
